Rihanna has reached a historic milestone that reinforces her status as one of the most influential artists of her generation. Her 2016 album Anti has officially logged 500 weeks on the Billboard 200, making it the first album by a Black female artist to achieve this record. The achievement places Anti among an elite group of albums that have sustained long-term cultural and commercial relevance.

The pop icon celebrated the landmark on X (Twitter), writing, “God Ain’t Forget Bout Me!”. At 37, Rihanna remains a dominant force in streaming—even without releasing a new album in nearly a decade. In 2025, she surpassed 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify, continuing her run as one of the most-streamed artists worldwide. Catalog deep cuts like “Breakin’ Dishes” and “Where Have You Been” enjoyed renewed popularity throughout the year, proving the magnetic longevity of her music.

Anti remains her most critically acclaimed and culturally defining work. The album debuted at No. 1 in numerous countries, producing global smashes like “Work.” Its impact has only grown with time, earning places on decade-end lists and Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Notably, this year marks the 20th anniversary of her debut album, Music of the Sun. To celebrate, the singer updated her social media banners with the titles of all her albums, prompting intense speculation about new music. As part of the celebration, Rihanna revealed a new merch collection inspired by her debut era, allowing fans to revisit the moment she first entered the global pop conversation.

Released in 2005, Music of the Sun introduced Rihanna’s Caribbean-infused sound and produced breakout hits like “Pon de Replay” and “If It’s Lovin’ That You Want.” It debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 and set the foundation for a career that would eventually deliver nine Grammy Awards, 14 Billboard Hot 100 No. 1s, and a legacy defined by reinvention.

Naturally, the new milestone renewed conversations surrounding Rihanna’s long-awaited ninth albumR9—which has been rumored for years. At the 2025 Met Gala, Rihanna confirmed her third pregnancy but assured fans it would not delay the project. Earlier this year, she told Harper’s BAZAAR that the album has been in development for eight years and will mark a dramatic shift in her sound. “It’s not going to be commercial or radio digestible,” she said. “I feel like I’ve finally cracked it.”

For now, Anti continues to chart, fans continue to speculate, and Rihanna once again proves that even in long periods of silence, her impact only grows.
