ROSÉ is officially entering a new solo era. The BLACKPINK star has announced “new trick,” her first solo release since Rosie, with the song arriving September 17 at 8 p.m. and its music video shot entirely on Apple’s new iPhone 18 Pro.
The announcement came through a seven-second teaser that gives fans a quick look at the concept. In the clip, blonde ROSÉ holds a large purple lollipop wrapped in “new trick” branding before it flips to reveal the words “Shot on iPhone 18 Pro.” The teaser then cuts to the release date, 9.17, confirming that the new song will arrive next week.
The timing also connects the single directly to Apple’s latest flagship launch. Apple introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max on September 9 at its “Surprise and Shine” event, with the devices set to go on sale September 18. The Pro models feature upgraded camera systems built around three 48MP rear cameras, including a new Fusion main camera with a mechanical variable aperture and a telephoto lens offering up to 8x optical-quality zoom.
ROSÉ also appeared in Apple’s first promotional imagery for the new iPhone, further tying her upcoming release to the technology company’s campaign. Apple’s announcement was accompanied by a teaser from the singer that read, “iPhone, new trick, watch this, watch this ahhhh!!!!”
For ROSÉ, “new trick” marks her first new solo music since Rosie, her debut studio album released December 6, 2024, through The Black Label and Atlantic Records. The 12-track project was written and co-produced by ROSÉ with collaborators including Bruno Mars, Carter Lang and Omer Fedi.
Rosie debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with more than 100,000 equivalent album units in its first week, making it the highest-charting album by a K-pop female soloist on the chart at the time and earning a Guinness World Record. The project also produced “APT.” with Bruno Mars, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200, as well as “Number One Girl” and “Toxic Till the End.”
The new song arrives as ROSÉ becomes the latest BLACKPINK member to return to solo music following the group’s individual activities. With JENNIE, LISA and JISOO having all released solo music, every BLACKPINK member has now added another chapter to her career outside the group.
