“Happy one month of Man’s Best Friend! Though she’s only been out in the world for a short time, I can’t tell you how special this album becomes to me more and more every day,” Carpenter wrote in an email to fans. “I don’t take for granted any of you who listen. So thank you for listening, sharing, dancing!! You make making music so much fun. I love you all and I can’t wait for what’s ahead.”

Released on August 29, Man’s Best Friend debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, becoming Carpenter’s second chart-topping album and her biggest debut to date. The project also scored the largest opening week of the year for a female artist, while all 12 tracks from the record entered the Billboard Hot 100 upon release. Second single “Tears” opened at No. 3, while “Manchild” rebounded to No. 4 after topping the chart earlier in the summer.
Internationally, the project proved just as successful. In the U.K., Man’s Best Friend debuted at No. 1 with more than 85,000 units sold, making it the fastest-selling release of the year by an international artist.
Even amid the whirlwind success of Man’s Best Friend, Carpenter has already begun looking ahead. In a recent interview with Vogue Italia, she revealed she is “doing a lot of writing right now,” despite having released back-to-back albums in consecutive years. “My magic writing place is my bedroom, or it’s outside,” she shared. “Although I get many bug bites… once I get enough bug bites, I go walking and I’m just refreshing.”
