Sabrina Carpenter brought a dose of pop nostalgia and playful energy to Madison Square Garden on Halloween night, delivering a surprise cover of Aqua’s 1997 classic “Barbie Girl.” The performance, part of her “Short ’n Spooky” Halloween edition of the Short ’n Sweet Tour, marked the grand finale of her four-night sold-out residency at the legendary New York City venue.

The 26-year-old pop star fully leaned into the festive theme, transforming herself into a real-life Barbie for the performance. Dressed in a vibrant pink corset top and matching flared pants, Carpenter channeled the iconic doll’s aesthetic with her own modern flair. As the opening notes of “Barbie Girl” rang out, the crowd immediately erupted into cheers and sing-alongs, with the singer confidently belting out the song’s playful lyrics: “I’m a Barbie girl, in the Barbie world.”

The unexpected cover was one of several creative moments from Carpenter’s Halloween show. Earlier in the evening, she opened the concert dressed as Wonder Woman — a sparkling, high-powered nod to her pop superhero status. Later, she reappeared on stage as Barbie before closing the night in a lighthearted twist, donning a Fred Flintstone costume.

Carpenter’s “Short ’n Spooky” performance comes during the final North American leg of her Short ’n Sweet Tour, which supports her 2024 breakout album of the same name. The singer has spent much of 2025 on the road, performing to sold-out arenas across the U.S. and Europe.

Adding to her momentum, Carpenter recently released her seventh studio album, Man’s Best Friend, in August. The project — which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 — expanded her signature pop sound with witty songwriting. Songs like “Manchild” and “Tears” have quickly become fan favorites, while tracks from Short ’n Sweet, including “Espresso,” “Juno,” and “Bed Chem,” remain the show’s core highlights.
