Sabrina Carpenter has officially stepped into the spotlight for summer 2025 with the release of her new single, “Manchild” — her first since the massively successful Short n’ Sweet era, which spawned hits like “Espresso” and “Please Please Please.” Out now via Island Records, the synth-driven track was produced by longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff and is rumored to be the lead single from her forthcoming seventh studio album.

In a post on social media, Sabrina celebrated the release, describing “Manchild” as “the song embodiment of a loving eye roll,” and adding that it sounds like “a never-ending road trip in the summer.” She continued, “I wanted to give it to you now—so you can stick your head out the car window and scream it all summer long!”

As Sabrina kicks off summer 2025, “Manchild” is already on repeat in fans’ heads. Many are calling it the Song of the Summer, with social media flooded with praise. “EVERYTHING SABRINA CARPENTER DOES IS A 10/10,” one fan wrote on X. “Song of the summer guaranteed,” another added.

While Sabrina hasn’t named names, speculation is swirling online that “Manchild” may be aimed at her ex-boyfriend, actor Barry Keoghan. The two reportedly broke up in December 2024 due to busy schedules and growing apart. Adding fuel to the speculation, the B-side of the vinyl release is titled Inside of Your Head When You’ve Just Won an Argument with a Man, further hinting at the song’s personal undertones.

A music video for “Manchild” is scheduled to premiere tomorrow, June 7, at 10 a.m. EST. Preview images shared by Carpenter show her in a lace outfit, holding a puppy, and driving through the desert.
