Sabrina Carpenter has been granted a temporary restraining order after a man allegedly made repeated attempts to access her Los Angeles home over multiple days in late May.

According to court documents first reported by TMZ, Carpenter’s legal team filed for immediate protection on Friday (May 29) after alleging that 31-year-old William Applegate repeatedly appeared at her residence and attempted to gain entry through the front door. A hearing has been scheduled for later this month, when a judge will determine whether the temporary order should be converted into a permanent restraining order.

The filing outlines a series of incidents that reportedly began on May 23, when Applegate allegedly attempted to open the front door of Carpenter’s property and refused to comply with requests from security personnel. Authorities were called to the scene, and Carpenter claims the man returned less than 24 hours after his arrest. Court records further allege he came back again on May 24 and May 25, prompting additional interventions from private security and law enforcement.

The restraining order requires Applegate to remain away from Carpenter and her home while the matter proceeds through the court system. A final decision is expected at the end of June following the scheduled hearing.

The incident arrives during a defining year for Carpenter, whose profile has reached new heights throughout 2026. Her seventh studio album, Man’s Best Friend, earned multiple Grammy nominations including Album of the Year. The project later secured the same top prize at the 2026 American Music Awards.

Her momentum has extended far beyond awards recognition. Carpenter headlined Coachella for the first time across both April weekends, delivering large-scale performances that blended material from Short n’ Sweet with tracks from her latest era. Those sets generated widespread attention, particularly after Madonna joined her onstage before the pair later released their collaborative single “Bring Your Love.”

Just weeks later, Carpenter made another high-profile appearance at the 2026 Met Gala, wearing a Dior gown inspired by Audrey Hepburn’s Sabrina before performing Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide” alongside Stevie Nicks during the evening’s live program.
