Taylor Swift has done it again — and this time, she’s rewritten Billboard history. The pop icon’s twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with a staggering 4 million equivalent album units in its opening week — the biggest debut in Billboard history. According to Billboard, this achievement surpasses Adele’s long-standing record for 25, which opened with 3.48 million units in 2015.

With this milestone, The Life of a Showgirl becomes Taylor Swift’s 15th No. 1 album, extending her record as the solo artist with the most No. 1 albums ever and placing her second overall, behind only The Beatles (19).

The record-breaking numbers don’t stop there. Showgirl also scored the biggest vinyl sales week ever tracked by Luminate (formerly Nielsen SoundScan), with 1.334 million copies sold — surpassing Swift’s own The Tortured Poets Department, which previously held the title. On streaming platforms, the album logged 680 million U.S. streams in its debut frame, the fourth-highest streaming week in history, following TTPD (891M), Scorpion (745M), and Certified Lover Boy (680M).

This feat cements Swift’s streak of 15 consecutive No. 1 debuts on the Billboard 200 — a record unmatched by any other artist. She also extends her lead as the soloist with the most cumulative weeks at No. 1 on the chart, now totaling 87 weeks, and the most No. 1 albums this century (15).

On the singles front, Taylor Swift’s dominance extends to the Billboard Hot 100, where all 12 tracks from The Life of a Showgirl debuted in the top 12. Leading the charge is the cinematic standout “The Fate of Ophelia,” which enters at No. 1, marking Swift’s 13th chart-topping hit. The track’s success also breaks new ground: it becomes the second song in Billboard Hot 100 history to debut at No. 1 without any pure sales, relying solely on streaming and radio airplay — a feat previously achieved only by Aaliyah’s “Try Again” in 2000.

“The Fate of Ophelia” earned over 600,000 streaming-equivalent units in its first week alone, all without being available for individual purchase.

Additionally, Swift becomes the first artist in history to occupy the entire top 10 of the Hot 100 on three separate occasions. She also extends her record for the most No. 1 debuts by a female artist (8).

With Showgirl, the Grammy-winning star achieves yet another rare feat: debuting a song and album at No. 1 simultaneously on the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200 for the seventh time — more than any artist ever. Her unmatched streak includes:

• folklore & “cardigan”

• evermore & “willow”

• Red (Taylor’s Version) & “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)”

• Midnights & “Anti-Hero”

• 1989 (Taylor’s Version) & “Is It Over Now?”

• The Tortured Poets Department & “Fortnight”

• The Life of a Showgirl & “The Fate of Ophelia”
