Taylor Swift has surprise-released the music video for “Elizabeth Taylor,” making it available exclusively on Spotify Premium and Apple Music. The drop arrived on March 31, closing out Women’s History Month with a visual centered on the legacy of Elizabeth Taylor.

Announced via Taylor Nation with a themed message tied to the final day of the celebration, the video compiles archival footage of the iconic actress. Rather than a traditional narrative or performance-driven clip, Swift leans into curated imagery, aligning the song’s themes with Taylor’s cultural impact and enduring influence.

The track itself has already established strong commercial momentum. Featured on The Life of a Showgirl, “Elizabeth Taylor” surpassed 300 million streams on Spotify as of March 31 and secured a Gold certification in the United Kingdom. Earlier in March, Swift confirmed a limited 7-inch vinyl release for Record Store Day 2026, scheduled for April 18, further expanding the song’s rollout.

Release strategy remains a key talking point. The exclusive debut on Spotify and Apple Music mirrors the approach used for “Opalite,” whose video launched on both platforms on February 6 before arriving on YouTube days later. That initial window proved impactful, with “Opalite” setting the largest single-day streaming total for a music video in Spotify’s history. The song later climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Notably, since January 16, YouTube views no longer contribute to the Billboard Hot 100 or Billboard 200 calculations, ending a long-standing data partnership. In that context, prioritizing streaming platforms signals a shift in how major releases are optimized for chart performance and audience reach.

Swift’s dominance on Spotify has only intensified alongside these moves. Following the “Opalite” milestone, she now holds the platform’s biggest single-day records across artist, album, song, and music video categories.
