Taylor Swift has just released a surprise new version of her chart-topping single “The Fate of Ophelia.” The track, now available as “The Fate of Ophelia (Alone In My Tower – Acoustic Version),” dropped Tuesday (October 28) as an iTunes exclusive, priced at $0.69. This intimate rendition strips back the lush production of the original, showcasing Swift’s voice and lyrics in their rawest form — a move that arrives as she aims for a fourth consecutive week at No. 1 on both the U.S. and U.K. charts.

The acoustic version marks the latest chapter in Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl era, which has already cemented itself as one of the most dominant moments of her career. “The Fate of Ophelia” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the U.K. Singles Chart earlier this month, and it hasn’t budged since. In the U.S., the song continues to lead for a third straight week.

With this, “The Fate of Ophelia” becomes Swift’s seventh single to spend at least three weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100, joining hits like “Anti-Hero” (8 weeks), “Blank Space” (7), “Cruel Summer” (4), “Shake It Off” (4), “Look What You Made Me Do” (3), and “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” (3).

At the same time, her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, continues to dominate the Billboard 200 for a third consecutive week — making Swift the first artist in chart history to debut at No. 1 on both the Hot 100 and Billboard 200 simultaneously and hold both positions for three straight weeks.

The new acoustic version adds to the momentum, giving fans another reason to revisit the song ahead of the chart’s next tracking period. On Spotify, “The Fate of Ophelia” remains unstoppable. The song has surpassed 300 million global streams and continues to lead the Daily Global Chart for 25 consecutive days.
