Young Miko is reflecting on a year marked by rapid growth, global visibility, and meaningful creative connections. In a new interview with Nylon Magazine, the Puerto Rican star opened up about the people who have kept her grounded through the noise of the music industry—most notably Billie Eilish. Miko described their bond as rare and refreshing, saying she feels “blessed” to meet someone so genuine in a space often marked by pressure and superficiality. “I feel blessed to meet people like her that are so genuine and easy to talk to, especially in such a loud industry,” she said. “She’s very refreshing.”
Their friendship deepened last October, when Miko joined Eilish as an opening act on select North American dates of the Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour. The opportunity placed her in front of packed arenas filled with Eilish’s devoted fans, offering a career-shifting spotlight. Miko called the experience “truly special,” noting that it allowed her to showcase Latina queer representation on some of the world’s biggest stages. She remembered vivid moments in the crowd—young women lighting up at songs about loving women—and emphasized how seamlessly her energy blended with Eilish’s audience.
These performances came on the heels of major festival appearances, including Coachella and Lollapalooza, cementing Miko’s rise as one of the most compelling voices in Latin music. Miko’s momentum also continues with the release of her sophomore album Do Not Disturb, out November 7 via The Wave Music Group and Capitol Records. The 16-track project serves as an introspective “quiet manifesto,” inspired by the emotional gaps between shows and the turmoil that followed her fast ascent. She explores desire, confusion, independence, and moments of hard-won clarity, blending trap, reggaeton, drum and bass, Afrobeats, and airy R&B. The album features viral standout “WASSUP,” the Afrobeats-infused “Meiomi,” the playful “Likey Likey,” and a single guest appearance from Eladio Carrión on “Traviesa.”
