Zara Larsson is addressing the online narrative that placed her in competition with Tate McRae during the Miss Possessive Tour. Speaking on the April 22 episode of Call Her Daddy with Alexandra Cooper, Larsson pushed back on the idea that she should have been headlining arenas instead of opening.

Some people felt like, I deserve to be in the arena. And I’m like, well, buy the ticket then. That’s not Tate’s fault. You know what I mean?” she said. “For me, this was an amazing opportunity. She is incredible. And also being on that tour, I personally have so much respect for the way she works and how hard she works and the fact that everyone was so lovely. And I think that says a lot about the artist, because I definitely do think it trickles down.”

The comments arrive months after Larsson’s run as the primary opener on the North American leg of the Miss Possessive Tour, which began in August 2025. Her performances quickly gained traction online, driven in part by a widely shared clip of “Midnight Sun,” where she delivered live vocals while suspended mid-air during choreography. That moment fueled a wave of fan discussion, with many arguing that her catalog—spanning global hits like “Lush Life” and “Symphony”—positioned her as an arena headliner in her own right.

In late 2025, the Swedish pop star embarked on her Midnight Sun Tour, performing arenas across Europe. Earlier this year, Larsson brought the tour to North America with over 20 dates. Although the North American tour concluded on April 12th, the Grammy nominated singer will headline numerous festivals, including BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Open’er Festival, and more. Larsson will then head to Australia and New Zealand, where the tour concludes on October 26th.

The Miss Possessive Tour itself marked a major milestone for McRae. Launched on March 18, 2025, in Mexico City and concluding November 8 in Inglewood, the 83-date run grossed $75.8 million.

Now Larsson is fully focused on her future. Midnight Sun: Girls Trip, the deluxe edition of her 2025 album, will be released on May 1st. It will feature a stellar lineup of female collaborators, including Madison Beer, Tyla, and Shakira.
