After more than a decade away from the recording studio, Hilary Duff is returning to music with renewed clarity. In a new interview with Glamour, the singer and actress explained why now felt like the right moment to release her first album in over 10 years.
“I just felt really ready to share,” Duff said. “I wanted to stretch creatively. I wanted to make something that I could connect with people again on the level of who I am now.”
That sense of evolution anchors her upcoming sixth studio album, Luck… or Something, due February 20. The project marks her first full-length since 2015’s Breathe In. Breathe Out. and her debut release under Atlantic Records. Two singles, “Mature” and “Roommates,” have already offered a glimpse into the project.
Duff’s return is not framed as a reinvention. Instead, it feels like a continuation. Over the past 15 years, her life has shifted dramatically, from teen idol to working actor to mother of four. She acknowledged that those changes inevitably shaped the emotional core of the new material.
“The things that came out because of being a mother were these feelings of my life being so different or yearning for times that I was wilder, free, or more fun,” she shared. “Not that I really want to go back to that time, but sometimes I do.”
Duff’s comeback extends to the stage. Earlier this year, during a Los Angeles show, she handed select fans black T-shirts that read “World Tour Loading…” The gesture sparked speculation. Weeks later, she confirmed the Lucky Me Tour, her first major international trek in nearly two decades. Promoted by Live Nation, the tour launches June 22 in West Palm Beach, Florida, before crossing North America and heading to Europe and Oceania. Special guests La Roux, Lauren Spencer Smith and Jade LeMac will join select shows.
