Hilary Duff returned to late-night television with a performance that marked a notable moment in her musical comeback. The singer appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on March 9, delivering a live rendition of her new single “Roommates” and celebrating the arrival of her long-awaited album luck… or something.
The appearance carried added significance. Although Duff has been a familiar presence on television throughout her career, the visit marked her first time performing on the show since Jimmy Fallon took over hosting duties in 2014.
Closing the episode with “Roommates,” Duff delivered her first televised musical performance in nearly a decade. The song, taken from luck… or something, reflects on adulthood and evolving friendships and was voted InMusic’s Best New Release of the Week upon its release.
During her conversation with Fallon earlier in the episode, Duff also opened up about preparing to return to large-scale touring. Her upcoming Lucky Me World Tour is scheduled to begin in June 2026, marking her first major tour in years. The singer revealed that her recent series of performances served as an intimate warm-up ahead of the large-scale tour.
Those smaller performances came with their own challenges. Duff joked that the experience involved “small rooms, big nerves,” admitting that stepping back onto the stage after years away initially felt daunting. Still, she emphasized that the shows helped rebuild her confidence as she prepares to perform for arena audiences again.
