Puck reports that Jay-Z has selected himself to headline the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show, potentially bringing his career full circle after seven years helping shape one of music’s biggest live stages. Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber were reportedly among the artists considered for the coveted performance, although neither the NFL nor Roc Nation has officially confirmed the selection.

Since 2019, Jay-Z’s Roc Nation has partnered with the NFL to oversee the halftime show’s musical direction and production, helping transform the annual spectacle into a defining moment for global pop culture. The partnership has delivered performances from Rihanna, Usher, Kendrick Lamar and Bad Bunny, among others.

The reported decision would arrive during a milestone period for the rapper’s legacy. In 2026, Jay-Z celebrated the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt, and the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint, two landmark records that helped establish his influence over hip-hop. Across more than three decades, he has earned 14 No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200, multiple Grammy Awards and a place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, where he was inducted in 2021.

Jay-Z has also stepped up his live appearances in 2026 after years without an extensive solo touring schedule. His performances have included a headlining set at Philadelphia’s Roots Picnic, three sold-out shows at New York’s Yankee Stadium celebrating Reasonable Doubt and The Blueprint, and stadium dates in London, Paris and Los Angeles. The run marks a significant return to the stage following his 2017 solo tour and the 2018 On the Run II stadium tour with Beyoncé.

Super Bowl LXI is scheduled for February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. A performance could draw from Jay-Z’s extensive catalogue, including “Empire State of Mind,” “99 Problems,” “Run This Town” and “Public Service Announcement.” His history of high-profile collaborations would also fuel speculation about surprise guests, particularly Beyoncé.
