The return to No. 1 builds on the extraordinary opening week Olivia Rodrigo achieved when You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love debuted with 485,000 equivalent album units. That figure marked the biggest debut of her career and the largest opening week by a female act in 2026. The album followed with another 180,000 units in its second week, becoming Rodrigo’s first release to spend its first two weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Neither Sour (2021) nor Guts (2023), both of which debuted at the top, managed that consecutive-week achievement.

Streaming played a major role in the album’s initial performance. During its first seven days, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love accumulated 401.7 million Spotify streams, securing the fifth-biggest opening streaming week ever for a female artist on the platform.

Olivia Rodrigo has also kept the era active with additional music and live appearances. In late August, she released “Serena Joy” around the launch of her inaugural Daisy Chain Fields Festival, while September marked the start of her Unraveled Tour. Last week, she added another development to the album campaign with an “Expectations” remix featuring Chappell Roan.

Meanwhile, Zach Bryan’s second-place debut gives the singer-songwriter his sixth project to reach the Billboard 200’s top 10, with Young Manhood and Other Donatable Organs opening at 65,500 equivalent album units.
