The NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation announced the news on October 26, confirming that the artist who has helped shape the halftime show for years will finally perform in it himself.

The announcement arrives during a landmark year for the hip-hop icon. In 2026, JAY-Z launched JAŸ-Z 30, a year-long celebration of the 30th anniversary of his 1996 debut album, Reasonable Doubt, alongside the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint, his influential 2001 release that debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The campaign has included immersive experiences, limited-edition merchandise and a series of major concerts, including three sold-out shows at Yankee Stadium and additional performances in London, Paris and Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles concerts brought the anniversary celebrations to SoFi Stadium, the same venue that will host the Super Bowl halftime performance. The October 23 opening night featured appearances by Blue Ivy Carter, who joined her father on piano, and Scarface, while DJ Khaled and John Legend joined the closing performance of “God Did.”
JAY-Z’s appointment also marks a significant moment in his relationship with the NFL. Roc Nation has served as the league’s strategic entertainment advisor since 2019, helping shape the halftime show and bring artists including Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, The Weeknd, Dr. Dre, Rihanna, Usher and Kendrick Lamar to the Super Bowl stage. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said he had hoped JAY-Z would eventually perform when the partnership began.
“When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that JAŸ-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him,” Goodell said. “I couldn’t be more excited for fans around the world to experience the artistry, creativity and cultural impact he will bring to the Super Bowl stage.”
The performance will be executive-produced by Roc Nation, with Hamish Hamilton directing. The broadcast is scheduled to air on ESPN, ABC and Disney+, with mobile viewing available through NFL+. Spanish-language coverage will be available on ESPN Deportes and Disney+, alongside a separate presentation on Univision.
