Yung Miami announced Watch Dis on September 30, describing the album as a personal statement about self-belief after being underestimated. “This album is personal. This is me betting on ME,” she wrote at the time, making the project’s title part of a wider message about proving doubters wrong. The album was previously teased under the name Yams, but she ultimately changed direction, opting for a title that better reflected her current creative vision.
The release follows a career-defining run with City Girls, the duo she formed with JT in 2017. Their breakthrough included an appearance on Drake’s “In My Feelings,” followed by hits such as “Twerk” with Cardi B and “Act Up.” Yung Miami began establishing herself as a solo artist with 2021’s “Rap Freaks,” while her Caresha Please podcast and other media projects expanded her presence beyond music.
Momentum returned to her solo career in April 2026 with “Spend Dat,” produced by J White Did It. After gaining traction on TikTok, the song climbed to No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming her highest-charting solo hit and setting the stage for the album.
