Comprised of Ben, Bailey, and PJ, Tridence is a Dublin-based band with a mission to redefine rock and roll while staying true to their roots and inspirations. “It’s very hard to define us by one genre, especially when considering our upcoming releases,” they explain. “But we’re truly just rock and roll.”
The story behind their band’s name is quite curious. It originates from a sketch of a trident drawn by Bailey, but the band’s original name was “The Silver Trident” as a nod to The Beatles.
For Tridence, music serves as a means of storytelling without boundaries. Inspired by legends like John Mayer and The Beatles, they channel personal emotions and experiences into their compositions, creating a cathartic outlet for both themselves and their listeners.
Earlier this month, the Irish band unleashed the new single “By Your Own Design,” which showcases a more mature sound. The song marks the first step towards what is to come: a new album. “We can’t wait for you to hear it,” they said.

How would you define your music?
Totally raw self expression. A means of storytelling with zero boundaries.
What inspired you to form a band and pursue a career in music together?
As for Bailey, John Mayer was his first major inspiration to play the guitar. He found writing lyrics and composing music was a gorgeous way to express very personal emotions in a healthy way. Ben was heavily inspired by the Beatles (as were all of us). PJ comes from a rich musical heritage and found his family to be his greatest inspiration.
Why did you choose Tridence as your band name and what does this name mean to you?
One Sunday, in their nanny’s house, Bailey and Ben decided to come up with an official name for their musical project. Bailey visualized a trident and drew it as a sketch logo. The name became “The Silver Trident” which truthfully was a copy of the Beatles former title “The Silver Beatles”. Eventually the name was shortened to the more original name “Tridence”, which rolled off the tongue better and was far more memorable.
Can you tell us about your new single “By Your Own Design”?
“By Your Own Design” feels like a more mature approach to our initial sound. It feels like we’re finally where we always wanted to be musically. Frankly, we think this single and the yet to be released music, broadens the definition of what rock and roll is. We know that’s a bold statement, but trust us when we say, the coming project is going to be big, and ultimately genre defining.
What is the meaning behind this song?
Bailey speaking. Personally, I never like to give a definitive meaning to a song. I really feel that It’s not our place to do that. Our music can be whatever the listener wants it to be. I remember many times listening to lyrics and fitting them to my own life circumstances. It was very healing, and I hope that our audience can experience that with our music too.
Are you working on an album or EP and, if so, can you tell us about it?
You’ve caught us. We absolutely are working on our 2nd album. We don’t want to say too much as of yet, but it is called “Poised”. Like the name suggests, we feel ready. We really plan for this album to take us where we want to go in the music industry. Poised is our takeover, and we can’t wait for you to hear it.
What is a message you would like to give through your music and why?
Don’t be controlled or held down by anyone or anything. Reclaim your autonomy. Be who you are.
