BLACKPINK’s latest release is already outgrowing expectations. In a statement shared via Naver, YG Entertainment addressed the overwhelming response to the group’s new EP Deadline. “The global demand for the album has greatly exceeded our initial expectations and we are working on additional production,” the company said. “Please look forward for the new record BLACKPINK will write once again.”
The numbers explain the urgency. Within just 24 hours of release, Deadline sold 1,448,380 copies on South Korea’s Hanteo Chart, setting a new benchmark for first-day sales in the platform’s history. It marks the fastest start ever recorded on the chart.
The achievement carries added weight. With Deadline surpassing one million copies in its opening day, BLACKPINK become the first girl group in Hanteo history to have multiple albums cross that milestone within 24 hours. Their 2022 project Born Pink previously achieved the same feat.
The momentum extends well beyond South Korea. Deadline quickly topped the iTunes Worldwide Albums chart and climbed into the top three in the United States, signaling strong international demand. The five-track EP also introduces a new distribution partnership with The Orchard.
Released via YG Entertainment, Deadline marks BLACKPINK’s first group project since Born Pink. The EP includes the lead single “Go,” following last year’s pre-release track “Jump,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200.
