Olivia Rodrigo has scored another major chart victory. Her third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 485,000 equivalent album units earned in its opening week, delivering the biggest debut of her career.

Released on June 12, 2026, the album extends Rodrigo’s flawless streak on the Billboard 200. Following Sour (2021) and Guts (2023), the new project becomes her third consecutive studio album to open atop the chart.

The debut also sets several notable benchmarks for 2026. With 485,000 units, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love claims the largest opening week of the year for any solo artist, surpassing Drake’s ICEMAN, which launched with 463,000 units earlier this year. It additionally secures the biggest debut by a female artist in 2026, comfortably ahead of Ella Langley’s Dandelion, which opened with 169,000 units.

For Rodrigo, the achievement represents significant growth from her previous releases. Guts debuted with 302,000 units in September 2023, while Sour launched with 295,000 units in May 2021. The new album outpaces both by a wide margin, giving the singer-songwriter the strongest commercial week of her career.

Streaming played a crucial role in the album’s success. During its first seven days, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love generated 401.7 million streams globally on Spotify. The figure surpassed the opening week performance of Sour and became the fifth-largest streaming week ever recorded by a female artist on the platform.

Momentum had been building long before the Billboard 200 results arrived. Lead singles “Drop Dead” and “The Cure” both became major global hits, while album track “Stupid Song” emerged as one of the biggest streaming successes of the month. The song spent eight consecutive days at No. 1 on Spotify’s Daily Global Chart, helping Rodrigo dominate streaming services throughout release week.

The project’s impact extended beyond the United States. You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love debuted at No. 1 in both the United Kingdom and Australia.
