Danielle Marsh has shared an intimate performance of “Stay,” an original song she wrote and composed, offering fans a closer look at her musical direction following her departure from NewJeans. Posted on her personal YouTube channel, the acoustic video features the Korean-Australian singer delivering the personal track over guitar accompaniment.

The stripped-back performance places Danielle’s vocals and songwriting at the center, with lyrics exploring loneliness, emotional pain and the difficulty of accepting that a relationship or situation may never return to the way it once was. One of the song’s central themes is the desire to feel needed while trying to move through feelings that cannot simply be pushed aside.

The performance features guitar accompaniment by 정석훈, with Livy and Dee handling filming and editing. Z is credited for mixing, while Miso makes a special appearance. Rather than presenting an elaborate production, the video keeps the focus on the song itself, allowing its vulnerable lyrics and understated arrangement to carry the emotional weight.

“Stay” arrives during a significant period of change for Danielle, whose career has been closely tied to the rise of NewJeans. Born Danielle June Marsh, she debuted with the group on July 22, 2022, when they introduced themselves to the public with “Attention.” Their blend of Y2K-inspired visuals and contemporary pop production quickly established them as one of K-pop’s most prominent acts, with songs including “Ditto,” “OMG,” “Super Shy” and “How Sweet” helping expand their international audience.

Danielle also contributed to the group’s songwriting, including on “Attention,” making her latest release a continuation of a creative interest that predates her current solo activities. Beyond music, she voiced Ariel in the Korean-language dub of Disney’s live-action The Little Mermaid.

Her departure from NewJeans followed the prolonged dispute between the members and their agency, ADOR. After the members challenged their exclusive contracts in 2024, the courts ruled that the agreements remained valid through 2029. On December 29, 2025, ADOR announced the termination of Danielle’s exclusive contract, stating that it would be difficult for her to continue as both a member of NewJeans and an artist under the company. The dispute has also involved legal proceedings over alleged financial damages.

In January 2026, Danielle addressed fans during an emotional livestream, saying she had “fought until the very end” to remain with the other members and that NewJeans would always hold a place in her heart. She described the moment as a beginning rather than an ending, while subsequent activity on her personal YouTube channel has offered glimpses of her life outside the group.
