JISOO is officially building anticipation for her long-awaited debut studio album. In her first direct update to fans in more than a month, the BLACKPINK star shared a candid message on her fan platform, revealing that work on the project is still ongoing as she continues refining the details behind her next musical chapter.

“I didn’t wanna say ‘soon!’ hahaha like I wanted to have everything all decided and come back and be like ‘Ta-da! Here it is!’ but it wasn’t that easy so I just came anyway hehe hehe,” JISOO wrote.

Arrived shortly after stunning photos JISOO shared on Instagram with Cartier, the message marks her first substantial update since early May and offers the clearest indication yet that her first full-length album remains actively in development. Rather than announcing a release date or unveiling new music, the K-pop idol chose to reassure fans that progress is being made behind the scenes, even if the process has taken longer than expected.

Interest surrounding the project has continued to grow since JISOO discussed the album in an interview with V Magazine on May 6. At the time, she revealed that the record would showcase a broader artistic range than listeners heard on her 2025 mini-album Amortage.

“Since I’m preparing a full-length album this time, I’m working on showing a wider range of music,” she said. “I think I’d be really happy if people listen to this album and say they discovered a new side of me.”

Those comments immediately fueled speculation about the musical direction of the project. Amortage introduced a more emotionally vulnerable side of JISOO through tracks including “Earthquake,” “Your Love,” and “Hugs & Kisses,” helping establish her identity as a solo artist outside of BLACKPINK.

Momentum continued later in 2025 when she teamed up with Zayn for “Eyes Closed,” a collaboration that debuted strongly on worldwide charts and became one of the most commercially successful songs of her solo career.

Earlier this year, she made her Met Gala debut at the 2026 event, drawing praise for her pastel Dior ensemble and demonstrating once again how seamlessly she moves between music, film, and fashion.

Creative influences have also become part of the conversation surrounding the album. During interviews last year, JISOO cited both Taylor Swift and Britney Spears as artists who inspired elements of her musical and visual development.
