LISA has added another milestone to her growing awards legacy. Following the announcement of the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards nominations, the BLACKPINK star became the first K-pop soloist in VMA history to reach 10 career nominations, becoming the most-nominated K-pop solo artist ever.

The 2026 nominations, unveiled on August 18, see LISA collect four nominations—Best Pop, Best K-Pop, Best Cinematography, Best Editing—making her the most-nominated K-pop artist at this year’s ceremony. Her latest haul pushes her career total to 10 VMA nominations, moving her ahead of fellow BLACKPINK member ROSÉ, who previously held the solo K-pop record with eight. Among K-pop soloists, LISA now sits comfortably in first place, followed by ROSÉ (8), Jung Kook (4), and JISOO (2).

The achievement adds another chapter to one of the most successful VMA careers ever enjoyed by a K-pop artist. While BLACKPINK helped reshape the show’s history by becoming the first female K-pop group to win a Moon Person with “How You Like That” in 2020 and later delivering the first VMA performance by a female K-pop act in 2022 with “Pink Venom,” LISA quickly established herself as a force in her own right.

Her solo breakthrough came at the 2022 MTV VMAs, when “Lalisa” won Best K-Pop, making her the first K-pop solo artist—and the first female K-pop soloist—to win a Moon Person. Two years later, she returned with “Rockstar,” earning four nominations before claiming another Best K-Pop trophy. That victory made her the first solo artist to win the category twice, while her electrifying performance of “Rockstar” and “New Woman” marked her first solo appearance on the VMA stage.

LISA’s dominance continued in 2025, when “Born Again,” featuring Doja Cat and RAYE, secured her third Best K-Pop win. The triumph tied BTS for the most victories in the category’s history and preserved an extraordinary streak: LISA has won Best K-Pop every time she has been nominated in the category.

This year’s nominations arrive during another landmark awards season. Madonna leads all artists with 11 nominations, while Taylor Swift follows closely behind with nine. The 2026 MTV Video Music Awards will take place on September 27 in Los Angeles, where LISA will have another opportunity to expand her already unprecedented VMA résumé.
