Shakira has reached another historic milestone on Spotify, becoming the first female Latin artist ever to surpass 100 million monthly listeners on the streaming platform. The achievement further cements her status as one of the world’s most-streamed artists and arrives during a period of renewed global interest fueled by the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Spotify’s latest figures make Shakira only the second Latin artist in history to cross the 100 million monthly listener mark, following Bad Bunny. She also joins an exclusive group of female acts to reach the milestone, including Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and Lady Gaga.

The surge comes as football fans around the world continue embracing Shakira’s catalog throughout the ongoing FIFA World Cup. Her latest single, “Dai Dai” with Burna Boy, recently climbed to No. 1 on Spotify’s Daily Global Chart, becoming her third career chart-topper on the platform after “TQG” and “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53.” The collaboration has maintained strong momentum since the pair performed it during the tournament’s opening ceremony on June 11.

Interest has extended well beyond her newest release. According to Spotify, “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” experienced a nearly 250% increase in global streams immediately after the opening ceremony and has continued averaging gains of almost 140% throughout the tournament. “La La La” has also climbed 125% compared with its pre-World Cup average, while “Hips Don’t Lie” has recorded a 60% streaming increase.

Her connection to football remains unmatched. More than 35 million user-generated Spotify playlists now feature at least one of Shakira’s four World Cup songs. Spotify also revealed that one in every seven listeners who streamed “Waka Waka” during the current World Cup was discovering her music for the very first time.
