21 Savage returns with his fourth studio album What Happened to the Streets?. The British-born, Atlanta-raised rapper has built a reputation on minimalism and menace, and here he leans even further into that signature approach. The production serves as the album’s beating heart, shifting from haunting, atmospheric soundscapes in the opening tracks to heavy, muscular beats in the final stretch.

The rollout only amplified the anticipation. Savage announced the album on December 8 with a stark teaser, confirming a December 12 release date and later revealing a 14-track record loaded with major collaborators. Drake, Lil Baby, Young Nudy, Latto, GloRilla, G Herbo, and Jawan Harris all make appearances, yet the project never loses Savage’s unmistakable perspective. Instead, the features highlight the range of his world while staying rooted in the cold, unblinking tone that defines him.

Among the most powerful moments is the closing track, “I Wish,” where Savage reflects on the loss of artists like XXXTentacion, Juice WRLD, PnB Rock, and Takeoff. The song blends his grim realism with Jawan Harris’s smooth R&B presence, creating one of the album’s most emotional and memorable cuts. It’s a reminder of how loss, violence, and legacy continue to shape Savage’s writing.

Below, we rank the best songs on the album.
