Karol G has just dropped one of the most vibrant and genre-blending albums of her career. Her fifth studio project, Tropicoqueta—released via her Bichota label and Interscope Records—is a cultural celebration of her Latin roots, paying homage to the rich musical landscape of Latin America. The title itself reflects her heritage, fusing “tropical” and “coqueta.”
Following the global success of Mañana Será Bonito and the record-setting tour that followed, Karol G returns with 20 tracks that span an impressive mix of styles—from salsa and bachata to ranchera and reggaetón. She opens the album like a telenovela heroine with “La Reina Presenta” and “Ivonny Bonita,” before diving into the rich tapestry of Latin culture. “This album is a love letter to who we are,” Karol said. “To everything we feel, and the infinite universe of things that define us as Latinos. It’s what, to me, would be the perfect playlist. A project where I couldn’t pick a favorite track even if I tried. I love them all, because each one takes you to a completely different world of sensations.”
Fueled by a vibrant fusion of rhythms—including cumbia, bachata, merengue, mambo, vallenato, ranchera, salsa, and reggaetón—the album pulses with the spirit of 1990s nostalgia.
We put our headphones on and listened from start to finish—here are the best songs on Tropicoqueta, ranked.
