Five years ago today, Taylor Swift delivered one of her best albums, Lover. The LP has become a fan favorite and marked the end of a decade in which Taylor solidified herself as a central figure in the music industry, seamlessly and successfully switching genres. Lover, her sixth album, was the last gem of the 2010s, and five years later, it stands as her most-streamed album with over 11 billion streams.
Upon its release, Lover was propelled by the success of its title track, “You Need To Calm Down,” and “Me!” In the summer of 2023, “Cruel Summer” experienced a resurgence and was released as the album’s final single after going viral on social media. Beyond the official singles, Lover features timeless hits like “Cornelia Street” and “The Archer,” which Taylor revived during her record-breaking The Eras Tour.
When it debuted, the album achieved massive success, topping charts in 21 countries, including the Billboard 200 and the UK Albums Chart. Additionally, Lover earned a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album and won the American Music Award for Favorite Pop/Rock Album.
