It’s time to refresh your playlist with some exciting new releases!
The last New Music Friday of April 2025 is packed with an array of fresh releases. Lorde has officially begun the rollout for her fourth studio album, expected to drop this summer. On Thursday, April 24, the Grammy-winning singer unleashed “What Was That” as the lead single, accompanied by its music video. Marking her first release since her 2021 album Solar Power, the song takes fans back to Lorde’s Melodrama era, when she embraced a more synth-pop style.
Over the past two weekends, Benson Boone took over Coachella with two memorable sets. During his performances, he previewed a new song titled “Mystical Magical,” which is now in fans’ headphones following its official release tonight. The track follows “Sorry I’m Here for Someone Else” as the second single from his upcoming sophomore album American Heart, out June 20.
Following the success of her 2024 first independent release Megan, which spawned hit singles like “Boa” and “Mamushi,” Megan Thee Stallion is back with “Whenever,” her first release of 2025. Like Benson Boone, Megan teased the song at Coachella. It’s expected to mark the beginning of the Megan: Act III era, concluding a trilogy that began with a snake-themed era and continued with a butterfly-themed one.
On the album side, fans have plenty to enjoy this weekend, with new projects from d4vd, Coco Jones, Roddy Ricch, and more.
