Addison Rae is weighing in—carefully—on one of pop music’s most talked-about rumors. In a new interview with Los Angeles Times, the singer and actress was asked about the alleged feud between Taylor Swift and Charli XCX, and whether she feels pressure to take sides amid the growing fan speculation. Rae, who has ties to both pop worlds, offered a measured response that avoided fueling the discourse.
“I guess we’ll have to see,” Rae said. “But there’s so much more to all these things. There are people that do weird things, and I try to avoid those people.”
The question arrives at a moment when Swift and Charli XCX are once again linked by lyrical speculation. Swift’s recent album The Life of a Showgirl sparked intense debate following the release of “Actually Romantic,” a track fans believe contains pointed references to Charli. Lines about being called “Boring Barbie” and tensions involving an ex quickly ignited social media, with Swift’s and Charli’s fanbases dissecting every word for hidden meaning.
The speculation is not without historical context. Charli XCX famously opened for Swift on the Reputation Stadium Tour in 2018, a high-profile opportunity that later became complicated. In subsequent interviews, Charli described the experience as creatively misaligned, comments that were widely debated and, at times, misinterpreted. Though she later clarified her respect for Swift, the moment lingered in pop culture memory.
Tensions appeared to resurface in 2024 with Charli’s album Brat. The track “Sympathy Is a Knife” included lyrics many listeners connected to Swift, particularly amid overlapping social circles and industry visibility. While neither artist has directly confirmed any feud, the perceived back-and-forth has become a recurring topic in fan communities.
