The figure surpasses the first-week performance of 2021’s Sour, which opened with 370.5 million streams on Spotify. It also places Olivia Rodrigo among elite company, as you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love now ranks as the fifth-biggest streaming week ever achieved by a female artist on the platform.

Only four female albums sit ahead of it on the all-time leaderboard, all of them released by Taylor Swift. The achievement further highlights the scale of Rodrigo’s you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love era, which has consistently broken records since the album’s June 12 release through Geffen Records.

Momentum was evident from day one. Spotify confirmed that you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love opened with 81.59 million streams in its first 24 hours, making it the biggest single-day debut by a female artist in 2026. The project also became the most-streamed album by a female artist in a single day this year.

Much of the album’s success has been driven by the extraordinary performance of its singles. “Stupid Song” debuted atop Spotify’s Daily Global Chart with 10.1 million streams and has remained there for eight consecutive days. The track joined previous Rodrigo releases “Drop Dead” and “The Cure” as global chart-toppers, making her the first artist to earn three No. 1 songs on Spotify’s Daily Global Chart in 2026.

The album’s dominance extended well beyond its lead track. Every song from the project debuted inside Spotify’s Global Top 18 on release day. Among the strongest performers were “The Cure,” “Drop Dead,” “Honeybee,” “Maggots for Brains,” “u + me = <3,” and the Robert Smith collaboration “What’s Wrong With Me.”

Rodrigo’s success has not been limited to individual songs. During the album’s opening week, she spent seven consecutive days at No. 1 on Spotify’s Global Artists Chart, finishing ahead of every other artist on the platform.
