Alex Warren has reached No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart with Wildchild, giving the singer-songwriter his first chart-topping album in Australia. Released August 28 through Atlantic Records, the second studio album also leads the Vinyl Chart in its debut week.
Wildchild marks another step forward for Warren after his debut album You’ll Be Alright, Kid peaked at No. 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart last year. The earlier album returns to the Top 5 this week, climbing from No. 11 to No. 5 as the success of Alex Warren’s new project continues to lift his catalog.
The No. 1 arrival gives Wildchild a strong opening against a competitive week on the Australian albums chart. Paul Kelly lands at No. 2, while Ocean Sleeper also scores a Top 10 debut.
Wildchild was released on August 28 and serves as Alex Warren’s second studio album. The project was preceded by four singles — “Fever Dream,” “Fine Place to Die,” “Passenger” and “Rescuer” — which helped establish the musical direction of his latest era before the full record arrived.
On the ARIA Singles Chart, Ella Langley holds the top position with “Choosin’ Texas” for a 12th non-consecutive week. The run makes it only the second song this year to spend more than 10 weeks at No. 1, following Olivia Dean’s “Man I Need,” which ruled the chart for 18 weeks and also occupied the final six weeks of 2025.
“Choosin’ Texas” has also maintained an extraordinary run in the United States. The song has spent 20 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, setting a record for the longest reign by a non-Christmas song.
Elsewhere, Dolly Parton dominates Australia’s On Replay Singles Chart following her death on August 25. Her 1980 classic “9 To 5” rises to No. 1 on the retrospective chart, despite having peaked at No. 9 on the main Australian singles chart during its original run.
Parton occupies the next two positions as well, with “Jolene” at No. 2 and “Islands In The Stream,” her 1983 duet with Kenny Rogers, at No. 3. “Jolene,” first released in 1973, remains one of Parton’s defining recordings, while “Islands In The Stream” spent one week at No. 1 on the main singles chart in Australia in 1983.
