The race for next week’s top spot on the Billboard 200 is shaping up to be one of the tightest yet. According to midweek projections from Hits Daily Double, Ariana Grande’s Eternal Sunshine is on track to reclaim No. 1 following the release of the Brighter Days Ahead edition. Additionally, the 31-year-old singer has just dropped three new digital versions of the album on her website—instrumental, a cappella, and a digital version—all of which are expected to further boost sales. However, Playboi Carti’s Music still holds a slight lead in the midweek predictions.

As reported by Hits Daily Double, only 1,000 units separate Music (95,000) and Eternal Sunshine (94,000). While Playboi Carti has dominated the Billboard 200 for the past two weeks and is aiming for a third consecutive week at No. 1, Ariana Grande’s Grammy-nominated album originally debuted at No. 1 in March 2024 with 227,000 units. It spent two weeks atop the chart and a total of six weeks in the top 10. Now, with the release of its deluxe edition—featuring standout tracks like “Twilight Zone” and “Hampstead”—the album’s sales and streams are skyrocketing.

Meanwhile, Carti’s Music continues to rack up millions of streams, a key factor in securing his first two weeks at No. 1. The rapper has made his goal clear: on his Instagram story, he shared the lyrics “f*ck it, I’m goin’ three for three” from his song “Mojo Jojo,” signaling his intent to stay at the top for a third week. With the battle for No. 1 continuing through the week, this is shaping up to be one of the biggest chart showdowns of the year so far.
