Ariana Grande’s Dangerous Woman era may be stepping back into the spotlight nearly a decade later. On May 3, r.e.m. beauty intensified speculation around a 10th-anniversary revival by posting a new cryptic teaser — “something dangerous is coming” — doubling down on growing signs that one of Grande’s most defining creative chapters is being reactivated.
The message arrived just one day after the brand’s first visual nod to Dangerous Woman, when social posts featured the unmistakable black latex bunny mask from the 2016 campaign alongside behind-the-scenes studio imagery, immediately igniting fan theories about anniversary merch.
Released on May 20, 2016, Dangerous Woman represented a pivotal commercial and artistic shift. Powered by Max Martin, Savan Kotecha, and Grande herself as executive producer, the album produced defining hits including “Dangerous Woman,” “Into You,” and “Side to Side” with Nicki Minaj. While it debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 — notably her first studio album not to open atop the chart — its long-tail impact proved enormous, becoming one of her most culturally durable releases and helping solidify her as one of pop’s dominant voices of the late 2010s.
The era also established one of Grande’s strongest visual identities. The bunny mask became shorthand for the album’s themes of sensuality, confidence, rebellion, and reinvention.
Ten years later, Grande is preparing to release her eighth studio album, Petal. It’s scheduled for release on July 31st, just over two years after the massive success of Eternal Sunshine. That album topped the Billboard 200 and spawned chart-topping hits like “Yes, And?” and “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love).” The Brighter Days Ahead edition further expanded this era with another smash, “Twilight Zone.”
