Ariana Grande is marking a full decade of one of her most defining eras with a surprise drop that reconnects her present rollout to one of pop’s most stylistically expansive albums. The 10th anniversary edition of Dangerous Woman arrives as anticipation builds for her next era, petal, tightening the narrative between past reinvention and current creative shift.
Released on May 20, 2016, Dangerous Woman originally positioned Grande at a turning point between youthful pop-R&B crossover success and a more self-directed artistic identity. Now, on May 20, 2026, the expanded anniversary edition arrives with refreshed visual packaging, new vinyl variants, and a previously unreleased bonus track titled “Knew Better Part 2.”
The timing is strategic. Grande is currently in the middle of an active rollout for her upcoming single “hate that i made you love me,” due May 29, which will serve as the lead entry into her eighth studio album petal.
Grande addressed the anniversary directly through her Instagram account, writing: “happy ten years of dangerous woman. an album and era that will forever hold a very special place in my heart. thank you for the love you’ve shown this project over the past decade and for the most beautiful and pivotal memories… i cherish them and you all more than words can say. we hope you enjoy this ten year anniversary capsule that we created in celebration!”
Originally executive-produced by Max Martin and Savan Kotecha alongside Grande herself, Dangerous Woman became a global commercial breakthrough that expanded her sonic palette far beyond earlier releases. The record incorporated pop, R&B, disco, house, trap, and electropop influences.
Commercially, the album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 but ultimately became one of Grande’s most durable catalog performers. Singles such as “Dangerous Woman,” “Into You,” and “Side to Side” each extended her presence across global charts, with the album topping rankings in markets including the United Kingdom, Australia, Italy, Spain, and New Zealand. The era also set the stage for her 2017 Dangerous Woman Tour, which grossed more than $71 million worldwide.
The anniversary release arrives as Grande’s current creative phase continues to shift tonally. Earlier this month, she confirmed “hate that i made you love me” as the lead single from petal, describing it as “one of my favorite songs i’ll ever write.”
