Ariana Grande is once again reshaping expectations around her career. In a new interview with Vogue Japan, the global pop star spoke candidly about how her creative priorities are evolving, signaling a clear shift away from large-scale touring and toward acting and other artistic pursuits.
Reflecting on her past fifteen years on the road, Grande acknowledged the intensity of maintaining a touring-heavy career. “I have spent a lot of the last fifteen years doing that on a big scale,” she said. “I think I have a lot more creative energy to give and spend on different things.” The statement arrives at a moment when Grande’s presence in film and television has become increasingly prominent, particularly following the massive success of the Wicked films and her subsequent 2025 Oscar nomination.
While she emphasized that music remains essential to her identity, Grande framed the shift as a necessary recalibration rather than a departure. Authenticity, she explained, is now the guiding force behind her decisions. “I always want to make sure that I’m creating from an authentic place,” she said. “But it’s really important to me as an artist to remain as connected to what feels authentic as possible.”
Her closing remarks in the interview sparked particular attention among fans. Addressing her upcoming Eternal Sunshine Tour, Grande added, “I hope I get to hug you in LA at one of the shows or all of them. Just in case it never happens again.”
The Eternal Sunshine Tour launches June 6 and runs through September, spanning 41 shows. It marks Grande’s first world tour in seven years and arrives amid overwhelming demand. Tickets sold rapidly across major markets, reflecting both anticipation for the tour and uncertainty around when—or if—a similar run might follow.
Grande has hinted at this possibility before. In late 2025, during an appearance on Good Hang with Amy Poehler, she described the tour as a potential “one last hurrah” for some time. She reiterated that sentiment in a New York Times interview, assuring fans that she is not leaving music behind, but allowing space for an expanding career that now includes major film roles and a successful beauty brand.
