Ava Max has officially confirmed what many fans had suspected for months: she has parted ways with Atlantic Records and is entering a new artistic era.
The pop star shared the news in a heartfelt birthday message to fans, posted shortly after she turned 32. Addressing her “Avatars,” Ava described the past year as both “challenging and isolating,” but ultimately transformative. “I had to change a few things around and do what’s best for the music I want to make,” she wrote. “As some of you may know… I’ve left my old label and started an exciting partnership to bring you this new era.”
The statement confirms long-circulating speculation about her relationship with Atlantic. Observant followers had noticed social media unfollows late last year, fueling questions about her future. Neither party had publicly addressed the situation until now.
Ava framed the departure as liberating rather than divisive. She described the move as “a weight off my chest,” adding that she has spent the last few months quietly in the studio. The new material, she said, has challenged her “vocally and emotionally in a way like never before.”
Moments after sharing the announcement, Ava posted a teaser for her upcoming single, “Kill It Queen,” captioned “POPMAXXING.” The short clip leans into glossy, maximalist dance-pop — a sonic lane that first propelled her to global recognition with “Sweet but Psycho” and later “Kings & Queens.”
The timing carries weight. Her 2025 album, Don’t Click Play, endured a turbulent rollout marked by minimal promotion and a postponed tour. In interviews last year, Ava openly expressed frustration with her career direction, at one point calling herself “the biggest mismanaged pop star ever.” Commercially, the album underperformed, missing major U.S. and U.K. chart placements.
