“Birds of a Feather” was released on July 2, 2024, as the second single from Billie’s third studio album, Hit Me Hard and Soft. Co-written with her brother and longtime collaborator Finneas, the track was produced in his Los Angeles home studio. Upon release, the single quickly became a global sensation. It topped the Billboard Global 200 and reached No. 1 in eight countries, while climbing into the top 5 in several others, including the U.S. and U.K. Certified multi-platinum across the globe, “Birds of a Feather” was also one of the best-selling songs of 2024 worldwide according to IFPI.

The track’s impact extended to awards season, where it earned nominations for Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards in 2025. Its accompanying music video only fueled the song’s rise, helping it reach a new peak of No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Notably, “Birds of a Feather” became the first song by a female artist to lead Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs and Hot Alternative Songs charts for at least 30 weeks. It also set a record on Pop Airplay, logging 50 weeks on the chart—longer than any other solo song by a female artist in history.
