Cardi B is setting the record straight. Amid growing online rumors that Atlantic Records had shelved or blocked the release of her long-awaited second album, the Grammy-winning rapper responded with a fiery and faith-filled statement that leaves no room for doubt. “You’re dead wrong. Don’t pray for my downfall. I’ve been anointed by God, by Jesus Christ. Pray for your aunty, pray for your mom!” Cardi declared, putting an end to speculation about label interference.

Cardi’s comments come just days after she confirmed that her sophomore album was turned in to her label. “Now, things are beyond my hands. Everything is in Atlantic [Records’] hands,” she said in a previous update, signaling that the release process is moving forward.
The Bronx-born artist has been candid about the roadblocks and regrets surrounding the album’s rollout. Recently, she shared, “I really wish I did the f—ing album announcement last week when s— was hot.” Despite the delays, she made it clear that the project is complete and ready, with over 20 tracks expected on the final version.
Two singles have already dropped: “Like What (Freestyle)” and “Enough (Miami).” Cardi has also confirmed there will be no female rap features on the album—marking a shift from her previous collaborations with artists like Megan Thee Stallion, GloRilla, and Latto.
Her debut album, Invasion of Privacy, dropped over seven years ago in 2018. The project arrived on the heels of Cardi’s breakout single “Bodak Yellow,” which made her the first solo female rapper to top the Billboard Hot 100 in nearly two decades. Upon its release, Invasion of Privacy received widespread acclaim. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, moving 255,000 equivalent album units in its first week. At the 61st Annual Grammy Awards, the album won Best Rap Album, making Cardi the second female rapper in history to win the category. It was also nominated for Album of the Year, while “I Like It” received a nod for Record of the Year.
