Cardi B has forcefully pushed back against a viral claim circulating on X, after an AI-generated response alleged that her father had a criminal past. The controversy began when Grok, the artificial intelligence tool integrated into X, responded to a user prompt by falsely stating that Cardi B’s father, Carlos Almanzar, had been convicted of attempted rape in 1993 and served prison time. The claim spread quickly, prompting an immediate reaction from the Grammy-winning rapper.

Cardi addressed the allegation directly on X, firmly denying its accuracy and calling it both dangerous and defamatory. She stressed that her father has never been arrested in the county cited by the AI and highlighted his status as an immigrant from the Dominican Republic. According to Cardi, such a conviction would have resulted in deportation, underscoring what she described as the complete impossibility of the claim. “First thing first, my dad never been arrested in this county.. my dad is a immigrant from the Dominican Republic.. he would be deported if he committed such a disgusting crime!!” she wrote. “I don’t know why yall like playing these games just for you to be fake mad when I post who got those real mugshots, real evidence, AND REAL cases for rape.. stop playing wit me and my family and leave me the fck alone fr before I start some shit today.”

In a follow-up post, Cardi escalated her response, condemning those who amplified the claim and warning of potential legal consequences. She expressed outrage over what she described as a casual and reckless use of rape allegations for online engagement. The artist emphasized that she does not tolerate attacks on her family and suggested that lawsuits could follow if the narrative continues to spread. “I seen yall trying to spread that sh*t all day yesterday… yall know I don’t play about my family, now when I start suing people then what?? What type of deranged people like to play around wit rape? I forgot that whole crew over there got a kink for that. Just f*ckin weirdos.”
