Carly Rae Jepsen is officially back with a new era. On Monday, June 22, the singer-songwriter announced her upcoming album Day and Night, a sprawling double LP scheduled for release on September 18.

Jepsen confirmed the news herself on social media, writing: “It’s a double album baby! You guessed it right. Day and Night arrives September 18th and I couldn’t be more proud. We kick things off this Friday w our first single ‘On Wires’.”

The announcement arrives alongside the unveiling of the album cover. The artwork features Jepsen sporting bright red hair and a black leather jacket while seated at an outdoor café table surrounded by flowers and a newspaper.

What is known so far is the project’s ambitious structure. Day and Night will contain 24 songs in total, split evenly between a 12-track “Day” side and a 12-track “Night” side. The first preview of the album, lead single “On Wires,” is scheduled to arrive this Friday, June 26.

The album marks Jepsen’s first full-length studio release since The Loveliest Time, which arrived in July 2023. That project served as a companion record to The Loneliest Time and was praised for expanding the eclectic pop palette she had explored throughout the previous album cycle.

Before that, The Loneliest Time debuted in October 2022 and became one of the most critically acclaimed releases of Jepsen’s career. Led by singles including “Western Wind,” “Beach House,” and the Rufus Wainwright-assisted title track, the album earned critical acclaim and fueled her extensive So Nice Tour.
