Following Portugal’s 2-1 Round of 32 win on July 2, Ronaldo posted a photo alongside the Canadian rapper on Instagram, writing, “@champagnepapi nice to host us in your country bro.” Drake quickly responded with a humorous post of the same image, joking, “We are the same height I swear,” referencing the pair standing nearly eye-to-eye in the photo.
The interaction capped off one of the most vital celebrity appearances of the 2026 FIFA World Cup so far. Drake watched the knockout match from the stands at Toronto Stadium, where Portugal came from behind to eliminate Croatia. Ivan Perišić gave Croatia the lead in the 53rd minute before Ronaldo converted a penalty in the 68th to level the score. With extra time looming, Gonçalo Ramos headed home a dramatic winner in the 94th minute after Croatia had seen a late goal ruled out following a VAR review.
Ronaldo’s equalizer also produced one of the night’s biggest viral moments. Broadcast cameras captured Drake’s priceless reaction inside the stadium, first showing him stunned before breaking into a smile and recreating the now-famous “Where She At?” celebration.
