Dan Nigro, the producer behind some of pop’s biggest stars, including Olivia Rodrigo, recently spoke to Rolling Stone about the highly anticipated follow-up to Chappell Roan’s debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. The “Good Luck, Babe!” singer has had an extraordinary 2024, skyrocketing to fame with her debut album, standout performances at events like Coachella, and a rapidly growing fan base. However, fans eager for new music may need to be patient.

I think it’s too early to tell,” Nigro said when asked about the timeline for Roan’s sophomore album. “We’re just getting started on it. The one thing we learned from making the last record is that time is a big factor in making sure things are right.

Chappell Roan, whose debut album became a defining release of 2024, has captivated audiences with her authenticity, infectious energy, and fearless approach to music. Songs like “Pink Pony Club” and “Good Luck, Babe!” have become anthems for a new generation of listeners, building excitement for what’s next from the 26-year-old artist. Nigro highlighted her confidence as an essential part of their creative process:

The thing I love about Chappell is that she has so much confidence in what she’s doing, and that always shines through in the music,” he shared. “There are already so many cool moments and unexpected elements.

Although the release date for her next album remains uncertain, Nigro reassured fans that the creative process is already bearing fruit. “We’ve written some great songs, and we already have a couple that feel really strong. More will come over time.”

Fans got a glimpse of what might be in store during Chappell’s recent appearance on Saturday Night Live. Earlier this month, the Grammy-nominated singer performed the fan-favorite “Pink Pony Club” as well as an unreleased track titled “The Giver,” hinting at a new era in her career.
