Last night, Elton John won his first Emmy Award. The music icon was honored with the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) Award and became the 19th recipient of an EGOT.

EGOT is a prestigious title that only a few people in the entertainment industry can claim. It stands for Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony – the four major awards that honor outstanding achievements in television, music, film, and theater. To become an EGOT winner, one must win at least one of each of these awards in a competitive category. As of 2024, only 19 people have accomplished this feat, ranging from composers and lyricists to actors and producers. In this article, we will explore the history of the EGOT, the list of the winners.
