As Christmas week approaches, the music industry begins to slow down. However, last week still saw several notable new releases. Stray Kids dropped their first mixtape, Hop, a 12-track project featuring the lead single “Walkin’ on Water.” For rap fans, there were exciting new offerings as well. Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre reunited for the new album Missionary. The two rap legends, who first collaborated in 1993 on Snoop’s debut album Doggystyle, decided to celebrate its 30th anniversary with this fresh record, which includes guest appearances from Eminem, 50 Cent, Sting, and others. Offset continued his solo venture with the new single “Swing My Way,” a track first previewed in October and now accompanied by a music video starring supermodel Anok Yai. GloRilla and Kehlani also joined the holiday spirit with their festive collaboration “Xmas Time.”

As always, InMusic polled fans on X (formerly Twitter) to determine the week’s favorite release. With 34% of the votes, GloRilla and Kehlani’s “Xmas Time” emerged as the fan-favorite new release of the week. Stray Kids’ Hop and Offset’s “Swing My Way” followed closely, tying with 33% of the votes each.
“Xmas Time” marks the first collaboration between GloRilla and Kehlani. The holiday song blends GloRilla’s sharp rap skills with Kehlani’s sultry vocals to deliver a heartfelt message of togetherness. A live performance video accompanies the track. Both artists have enjoyed a memorable 2024. GloRilla solidified her status as a top female rapper with her highly anticipated debut album Glorious. Debuting at No. 5 on the Billboard 200, the LP features hit singles like “Yeah Glo!,” “TGIF,” “Wanna Be,” and “Whatchu Kno About Me.” Adding to her landmark year, she earned two Grammy nominations for the 2025 ceremony, including nods for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance.
Meanwhile, Kehlani treated fans to two new projects this year: her fourth studio album Crash in June and her third mixtape, While We Wait 2, in August. Like GloRilla, Kehlani achieved both commercial success and critical acclaim, with Crash performing well on the charts and earning a Grammy nomination for Best Progressive R&B Album.
