The UK charts are welcoming a wave of high-profile releases this week. Leading the charge is Gorillaz, whose new album The Mountain climbs straight to the top of the UK Albums Chart, marking another milestone for the long-running virtual band.
Created by Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett, the animated collective secures its third UK No. 1 album with the new project. The achievement places The Mountain alongside previous chart-toppers Demon Days and Cracker Island in the group’s catalog.
Just behind the leaders, Olivia Dean continues her remarkable run with The Art of Loving, which holds the No. 2 position after dominating recent weeks. At No. 3, Bruno Mars returns with his long-awaited solo album The Romantic. The project narrowly misses the top spot but still delivers one of the week’s biggest debuts. Mars has a strong history on the UK charts, including the No. 1 album Unorthodox Jukebox and the multi-platinum success of Doo-Wops & Hooligans.
Elsewhere on the chart, Mitski matches her career-best performance with Nothing’s About to Happen to Me debuting at No. 4. The album ties the peak reached by her previous project The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We.
K-pop also secures a presence in the upper rankings. BLACKPINK land at No. 11 with their comeback mini album DEADLINE, giving the quartet their third Top 20 album in the UK.
Meanwhile, the Singles Chart remains firmly in the hands of Olivia Dean and Sam Fender. Their collaboration “Rein Me In” holds the No. 1 spot for a third consecutive week.
