Abrams’ victory arrives during a pivotal moment in her career. Released on May 14, “Hit the Wall” serves as the lead single from Daughter from Hell, her upcoming third studio album due July 17. Co-written and produced alongside Aaron Dessner, the track leans into the diaristic songwriting style that has increasingly defined Abrams’ catalog.

Commercially, the response was immediate. “Hit the Wall” debuted with 3.24 million streams on Spotify globally during its first day, marking Abrams’ biggest streaming debut to date. The song opened at No. 31 on Spotify’s Daily Global chart and No. 32 in the United States, while also pushing Abrams onto the Global Top Artists ranking at No. 79.

The poll result becomes even more notable considering the competition surrounding this release week. Drake dominated streaming platforms after surprise-dropping three separate projects Iceman, Habibti, and Maid of Honour — totaling roughly 43 new tracks. Iceman alone generated approximately 140 million Spotify streams in its opening day and occupied the entire top 18 of the U.S. Spotify chart.

Meanwhile, Shakira’s “Dai Dai” featuring Burna Boy launched as the official anthem for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Built around multilingual Afrobeats production, the song debuted with 1.78 million Spotify streams globally.

Elsewhere, aespa teamed up with G-Dragon for “WDA (Whole Different Animal),” a hip-hop-driven pre-release single tied to the group’s forthcoming album LEMONADE. The collaboration generated more than 7 million Spotify streams within its first five days.
