The Grammy Awards are undoubtedly the biggest night in music. Every artist in the industry, from established stars to emerging talents, dreams of winning this prestigious accolade. Tate McRae is one such artist, particularly after the release of her sophomore album, Think Later. Released last December, the album has enjoyed massive success, reaching the top ten in numerous countries, including the US and the UK. Additionally, the LP spawned global hits like “Greedy” and “Exes.” Despite this success, the 20-year-old star cannot be nominated for Best New Artist at next year’s Grammy Awards, and “Greedy” is also not eligible for an award.

The Grammy for Best New Artist is one of the most coveted awards. Next year, artists like Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter are expected to be contenders in this category, but Tate McRae is not eligible. The Canadian pop sensation has already been submitted three times over the past three years.

Interestingly, Sabrina Carpenter remains eligible despite having released five albums. According to Grammy rules, while there is no specified maximum number of releases, the Screening Committees determine if an artist has achieved a breakthrough or prominence prior to the eligibility year. Sabrina, having gained her breakthrough only recently, meets the criteria for a nomination.

As for Tate McRae, her global hit “Greedy” is ineligible for the Grammy Awards 2025. The song was released on September 15th, while the eligibility period for the 67th Grammy Awards began the following day, on September 16th. Consequently, “Greedy” cannot be considered for Song of the Year or Record of the Year. However, Tate can still hope for nominations for her album Think Later, especially in categories like Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album.
