We are just a few hours away from the release of Jennie’s debut solo album, Ruby. The highly anticipated LP drops tonight, and fans are eager to hear what the K-pop idol has in store. Ruby follows the recent solo projects of Jennie’s bandmates. Just last week, Lisa released Alter Ego, while Jisoo unveiled AMORTAGE in early February. Back in December 2024, Rosé debuted her album Rosie. Now, Jennie completes the cycle, and with Ruby almost here, it’s worth taking a moment to recap everything we know about this long-awaited project.

The Path to Ruby

In 2019, Jennie became the first BLACKPINK member to launch a solo career with her hit single “Solo.” Since then, she has collaborated on songs like “SPOT!” and “One of the Girls.” Recently, she parted ways with YG Entertainment and signed with Columbia Records for her solo music. Shortly after, she released “Mantra” as the lead single from her debut album. The track achieved significant success, reaching the top five on both the Billboard Global 200 and South Korea’s Circle Digital Chart.

In a recent interview with Billboard, Jennie shared insights into Ruby, explaining that the album is a deep exploration of her ‘Ruby-Jane’ persona, making its title especially meaningful. Blending multiple genres, Ruby highlights both her vocal and rap skills. Ahead of its release, the album has already surpassed 450,000 global pre-orders. Looking ahead, Jennie is set to take the stage at Coachella on April 13 and 20.
