Kacey Musgraves is extending the world of Middle of Nowhere with a new companion release, announcing Middle of Nowhere, Vol. 2: Tex Mex Tapes for January 15, 2027. The country singer-songwriter is also releasing two new songs, “Weekend In Texas” and “Mi Tesoro,” tonight, offering fans another taste of the Texas-rooted sounds that shaped her latest album.

Commercially, Middle of Nowhere delivered one of the strongest debuts of Kacey Musgraves’ career. The album opened at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with 100,000 equivalent album units, securing her sixth consecutive top 10 debut on the chart and her best first-week unit total. It also reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales, Vinyl Albums, and Indie Store Album Sales charts. In the UK, the project debuted at No. 7 on the Official Albums Chart and topped the UK Country Albums Chart.
Four singles introduced the album’s different sides: “Dry Spell,” the title track, “Loneliest Girl,” and “Mexico Honey.” Together, they established the record’s balance of dry humor, introspection, and country storytelling, with regional influences woven into its musical identity.
