KATSEYE will take the stage at the 2026 Hinterland Music Festival without Sophia. The group announced on Tuesday that the member will sit out the July 30 performance due to illness, while the remaining four members will perform as scheduled.
The update was shared through KATSEYE’s official social media channels in a statement from the group’s community manager. “We’re sorry to share that due to illness, Sophia will not be able to perform at the Hinterland Music Festival on Thursday, July 30,” the statement reads. “She is resting and focusing on her recovery. Daniela, Lara, Megan and Yoonchae will perform at the festival as scheduled. Thank you for your understanding and for supporting Sophia and KATSEYE.”
Although Sophia’s absence comes just days after the group’s latest comeback, the festival appearance will still move forward with Daniela, Lara, Megan, and Yoonchae representing the HYBE x Geffen girl group. KATSEYE is scheduled to close the opening day of Hinterland Music Festival, which begins on July 30 in Saint Charles, Iowa. This year’s four-day event features an ambitious lineup led by KATSEYE, Lorde, Mumford & Sons, and Kali Uchis, reflecting the festival’s growing reputation for blending pop, indie, folk, and alternative acts.
The group arrives at the festival with a strong momentum. On July 24, KATSEYE released their new song “Animal,” the latest preview of its upcoming third EP, WILD, due August 14. The single debuted at No. 9 on the Spotify Daily Global Chart with 3.346 million streams, marking the biggest first-day chart debut of the group’s career. The opening surpassed previous launches including “Internet Girl” and “Pinky Up,” which both entered at No. 13, while “Gabriela” remains KATSEYE’s highest-charting song overall after reaching No. 7.
